New sending domain: why your first campaigns go out in batches
For its first sending days, Zanfia sends campaigns from a new sending domain in batches, so Gmail and other inboxes do not hold your e-mails back. See how many e-mails an hour, for how long, and where you see the estimated end of the send.
Mailbox providers such as Gmail judge every domain by how it sent before. A domain with no history that suddenly sends thousands of e-mails in a few minutes looks suspicious: the inbox accepts part of it and holds the rest back for hours. So Zanfia spreads the first campaigns from a new domain over time on its own. You set nothing, and no recipient is lost: the campaign simply takes longer.
Who this applies to
Only campaigns sent from your own verified sending domain. Campaigns from Zanfia's shared address, automations and system e-mails (purchase confirmations, login codes, reminders) always go out at once.
How many e-mails an hour
The limit counts sending days: days on which your domain sent at least 1,000 campaign e-mails. A small test campaign does not use up a day.
| Sending day | Limit per hour |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1,500 |
| 2 | 3,000 |
| 3 | 6,000 |
| 4 | 12,000 |
| 5 and later | no limit |
- E-mails go out every 10 minutes, a sixth of the limit each time (250 every 10 minutes on day 1), not all at the start of the hour.
- Several campaigns from the same domain share one limit.
- After four sending days the limit is gone for good.
- If your domain sent at least 20,000 campaign e-mails from Zanfia in the last 90 days, there is no limit at all.
Where you see it
Before you send
On the campaign's Send step, in the Send time section, you see: "Your domain … is new, so this campaign will go out in batches: about … e-mails an hour. Estimated end of the send: …". The same note is in the send confirmation, in the Change the send time dialog and on a scheduled campaign.
In the campaigns list
Under the campaign's status you see In batches (new domain). Hover over it to see the estimated end of the send.
In the campaign report
The statistics header shows Spread over time (new domain), how many e-mails went out (X of Y sent) and the estimated end. The end time updates after every batch.
Can I send faster?
Not from the dashboard and not through the assistant. If your domain already sent big campaigns from another tool (for example Mailchimp or ActiveCampaign), write to support@zanfia.com: we check the domain's history and can lift the limit.
FAQ
I already sent a big campaign from a new domain and some e-mails arrived hours later. What happened? Mailbox providers (most often Gmail) held back the e-mails from a domain with no history and delivered them in waves. From now on Zanfia spreads the first campaigns from a new domain on its own, so this won't happen again.
Will a recipient get the campaign twice, or not at all? No. Every recipient gets the campaign exactly once; some of them just get it a little later.
Can I stop the campaign while it sends? Yes, like any campaign that is sending. E-mails that have not gone out yet will not go out.
Does the limit apply to automations? No. Automations, sequences and system e-mails never wait.
